Every day, we face countless decisions—what to eat, which route to take, how to manage our time. But what happens when the world is unpredictable? How do we make the best choices under uncertainty?

In this talk, we’ll explore how mathematical models and data-driven strategies can help us navigate uncertainty, from personal decisions to large-scale challenges like business, finance, and healthcare. Discover how math can guide smarter choices and transform how we think and act.

Sandjai Bhulai is a Professor of Business Analytics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, with expertise in decision-making under uncertainty, optimization, and data science. He co-founded the Amsterdam Center for Business Analytics and PersonalAIze, and has earned recognition for both his innovative research and excellence in teaching. His work seamlessly integrates mathematics, computer science, and operations management, with current research projects spanning critical fields such as healthcare, safety, logistics, and telecommunications.
