About the talk
How to work with, not against, your body through strength, sleep, recovery, nutrition, and stress management.
Your body isn't falling apart; it's changing. While often associated with the mid-40s, perimenopause can begin up to a decade before menopause - marking a biological turning point that demands a different approach. This talk cuts through the noise of detox teas and quick-fix culture to reveal what the science actually says: why building muscle is now non-negotiable, how bad sleep, the “calories in and calories out” approach, and stress are quietly sabotaging your results, and what sustainable change really looks like when your hormones are in flux.
Is the woman in transition simply aging or is she being failed by a fitness and wellness industry that was never designed for her? The real question might be: what happens to a body when declining oestrogen quietly dismantles muscle mass, disrupts sleep architecture, changes the importance of nutrition, and amplifies the stress response - and no one tells you that a detox tea won't fix any of it?
As perimenopause reshapes the hormonal landscape, most women are handed a menu of quick fixes: cut calories harder, push through the fatigue, just try yoga. This talk argues that this approach is not only ineffective, it actively works against female biology. Through the lens of exercise science, Rubianca makes the case that strength training and intentional movement are not optional. They are the mechanism by which vitality is built, and protected.
But movement is only part of the story. Sleep quality, recovery, nutrition, and stress are not lifestyle “nice to have” factors. They are levers that determine whether any physical effort pays off at all. This is an exploration of what the science actually says, and what sustainable, evidence-backed change looks like for a body in transition.
Join us to discover why the perimenopausal years are not a decline to manage, but a turning point to own.
